How To Drive Big Blog Traffic From Reddit Without Damaging Your Brand?

°    In this post, I'll go over some of the key things to keep in mind when using Reddit to promote your own efforts (and particularly, your blog posts).

°   There is a way to submit posts to Reddit and gather a large number of visitors to your blog, but you have to be careful.

°     However, the Reddit community (and it is very much a community) will teach you one of the golden rules of using sharing sites and social networks to spread the word about your blog: don't spam your posts and expect positive or positive feedback.  even interest.

°    There are many social sharing sites these days and joining at least some of them can do wonders for your brand.

Be an active member of Reddit

*     I've found that on numerous occasions, users who comment on your submission will check your Reddit profile and submission history (which is public).

*      Your page has logs of your links and your comments, so you need to make sure it doesn't make you look like a spammer.

*      Remember to post links to other interesting content on the web, not just your own blog posts.

*      Redditors generally have a disdain for people who constantly promote their own stuff and for good reason - you should use the community to your advantage only if you're going to be an active contributor, not just someone who just submits your own stuff.

*    So remember to view Reddit as you would your Twitter account - post things of interest in addition to your own work. That way, Redditors will be more willing to verify submissions using your account name.

What to do if your initial shipment fails

*    This part is so important that I had to make a separate section for it.

  On Reddit, timing is everything.

*  That said, even if you post at the best time (early morning on a weekday), early voters can ruin the success of your submissions.

*  Reddit staff often joke about this, as posts that were submitted a few months ago are later viewed again with triple the votes.

*  So you need to understand that if your first few posts don't go well and you follow the guidelines here (and post to the correct subreddit), you may be out of luck.

  So what should I do?

*  Please wait to resubmit - Redditors hate "reposts" or seeing the same post again in a short amount of time.

*  When you resubmit, delete your original post so it doesn't appear on your user profile.

*  To give you a real life example, my guide on WordPress SEO was a failure the first time I posted it to the r / WordPress section. He got 2 votes against right away and got nowhere.

*  Next time I sent it with a better title and the first two people voted for it.

  The result?

 * About 18 upvotes in total and the main post on the r / WordPress subreddit, which brought me over 400 visitors.

 * Only about 5 of those visitors converted to email subscribers, but hey, it was a nice traffic boost and it only took me seconds to send.

*  And if you make it BIG on a large subreddit, you can get thousands of visitors (the most I've had was 20,000 in one day, great traffic! I was on the r / TodayILearned subreddit).

*  Overall, Reddit can be a powerful source of traffic, but they are a tough crowd, and you need to play your cards right and be patient if you want to win big.

Post to the correct subreddit!

"A subreddit (sometimes simply referred to as "reddit") is Reddit's way of organizing the content of its posts."

*   So, you should definitely check if the overall topic of your post falls into one of the subreddits offered by Reddit (99.9% of the time it will).

*  Choosing the correct subreddit can be tricky, and this is why:

 * You want to choose a subreddit that has enough viewers, but isn't so crowded that your post gets lost in the confusion.

*  Posting anything other than an Imgur link on the r / pics subreddit, for example, will generally cause your post to be buried in the middle of a large number of submissions.

*  But if your post features, say, a bunch of new images on the latest device, posting it on the r / Technology subreddit will appeal to users who are not only interested in that specific category, but will also pay attention to most of the news. post there because it's not as packed as r / pics or r / humor.

*  To check how many people have added reddit to your homepage, just open another tab and after the normal Reddit address, type / r / reddit-name.

*  For example, to view reddit on technology, enter reddit.com/r/technology. On the right, you will see the number of people who have reddit on their home page.

*  Make sure to choose a reddit that is relevant to your link and has a good number of subscribers.

*  The other reason for submitting to niche subreddits and not the big ones is that you can make main posting easier on these smaller subreddits.

*  So, if you make it to the top of r / WordPress with your post, there are still 3,000+ subscribers to the WordPress subreddit who could click (just make sure your post is great and has to do with WordPress specifically!)

Present the article with an interesting title and photo

*  Since you don't have much more than the title to convince people to look at your post (some subreddits will show the first image), you need to make your blog title catch people's eyes.

*  Creativity and puns will shine here; You should make your title quite long, but get straight to the point. Try to be descriptive about some of the most interesting points in your post.

*  Asking a question is an effective way to get readers to click, as it is a way to engage them in the post by allowing them an answer rather than simply presenting something.

*  Also, generally speaking, the more controversial the article in question, the better. Get users to ask questions or discuss a topic, and they will want to see you and leave comments.

*  As for the images, angel investor Gabriel Weinberg stated that he felt that his DuckDuckGo submission (actually a paid submission) to Reddit worked quite well due to the image he chose, plus a number of other things.

*  The image, circular and orange, stood out against Reddit's plain white background and stood out against the square thumbnail images offered by Reddit.

*  Moving on, what kinds of posts work best on Reddit?

  I have found that ...

1.   Personal stories / heartwarming stories / personal challenges or facing incredible odds are the most popular;

2.   Educational sites and stories that have unusual or obscure facts about history, science, or technology;

3.   Photography, art and comics (especially related to anything nostalgic, pop culture);

4.  Politics (both in the US and around the world) and Religion (especially atheism);

 5.   Video games (console and MMORPG);

6.   Technology (especially computers and programming);

7.   Science and History (the script had a subreddit, but it's not that popular);

8.   Music (of all genres);

9.  Marijuana (funny, it has two popular subreddits dedicated to it!);

10.  Food and Fitness.

*   These are usually the topics with the most popular subreddits.

*  For example, the r / gaming subreddit is one of the largest on the site and a "default" subreddit (all users see it at the top of the site, regardless of whether they are logged in).

*   The most well-received posts will either be original and have a strong personal story or be entirely factual - Reddit thrives on extremes.

*   Don't publish everything you write; save it for the really wild stuff or things you write that contain a deep personal story.

*   Redditors like to listen to real people, not "how-to" posts unless the posts contain really creative images.

✓  Know your audience: the typical Redditor

* If you're unfamiliar with the Reddit community, I might suggest that you take a second to see how it all works.

*  Simply put, Reddit allows users to submit anything in the form of a link (links to individual images, web pages, etc.)

*   We'll go into detail on the mechanics of submitting a post later, but first you need to realize that most Redditors fall into some demographic categories (Reddit actually calls a large portion of their user base 'The Hivemind', because tend to share similar opinions).

*  So what does your typical Redditor look like?

  i.) Liberal Thought: Generally divided between the more popular Democratic party and a smaller section made up of libertarian thinkers. While these are two distinct political groups, they both have similar causes that Reddit embraces.

  ii.) Young and tech-inclined: Most Redditors are in their 16-34 age range of my best guess and almost all Redditors are actively adopting internet marketing technology and tools.

  iii.) Mostly male, but with an active female community - largely made up of subreddits that embrace female interests. While "mainstream" subreddits like Pics and Funny are dominated by male humor and it is obvious to anyone browsing the site that the sex difference is something like 80/20 in favor of a predominantly male audience, the female presence On Reddit it is quite significant and they are an active and important part of the community.

*  Knowing this, you should also know that posts that focus on images tend to perform well on Reddit as well.

*  Redditors in general are very opposed to submitting their own site, so I caution you not to mention that the content is yours in your title.

*  It's better to let people assume what they want about who created the content; your job is to make the title clickable and really interesting.

  I hope you Enjoy It.
