League of Legends for mobile devices will arrive in 2020
League of Legends is finally getting a port. Riot Games announced that it will take the multiplayer online battlefield to iOS and Android in 2020. The publisher released a preview of League of Legends: Wild Rift, and promises to start implementing some beta tests before the end of the year.
League of Legends: Wild Rift is not just the PC version that runs on smartphones. Riot is adapting the game for touch devices with some key changes. The map is slightly different to facilitate shorter matches. So, instead of spending 45 minutes in a battle, Riot is looking for something closer to 15 to 20 minutes.

You can sign up for the open beta now on the Wild Rift website. The first tests will begin in China, but will soon expand to other regions.
This alternative version of League of Legends is receiving full support from Riot. It has a classification mode, and the study promises that it is always free to play without payment mechanics to win. And PC LOL players will get bonuses for choosing the game on another platform.
League of Legends is not the first MOBA for mobile devices or consoles. Arena of Valor and Vainglory are already popular versions of the formula on iOS and Android. And on consoles, you can play Smite. Other console MOBA, such as Paragon and Battleborn, could not find an audience.

Activision Blizzard and Google are entering a powerful partnership that covers multiple facets of the publisher's gaming business. Google Cloud will act as the "preferred partner" to host Activision Blizzard games. Meanwhile, YouTube will act as the home of the live electronic sports broadcast of Activision Blizzard. That includes Overwatch League, Call of Duty League, Hearthstone and more.
Google plans to use its server infrastructure to improve the gaming experience for Activision Blizzard fans. While Google has data centers around the world, it also promises to use cutting-edge features such as A.I. to improve performance in the future.
"We have worked closely with Activision Blizzard over the past few years in mobile titles to improve their analytical capabilities and overall player experience," said Sunil Rayan, head of Google Cloud games. "We are excited to expand our relationship and help drive one of the largest and most recognized game developers in the world."

Overwatch League and other Activision Blizzard sports find a new home
Activision Blizzard has one of the most developed esports initiatives. And the Overwatch League is a great example of their competitive gaming efforts. That started in 2018 with an exclusive Twitch agreement. Amazon's live video service paid $ 90 million for exclusive streaming rights. But now that agreement has expired, and Twitch did not return for another round.
That gave YouTube the opportunity to intervene and pick up the Overwatch League.

Content wars continue
And Overwatch League and Call of Duty League are likely to be more valuable to YouTube than Twitch. YouTube wants more people to think of it as a live streaming site in addition to their videos on demand. And esports is important to build that understanding among a large audience. This is part of an ongoing battle over content that has led YouTube to sign certain content creators for exclusive agreements.
